Free, no sign-up, nothing to install. It keeps time by the clock, beeps even when you’ve switched tabs, and works with no connection at all.
The timer itself goes live here shortly. It is built and tested — this page is just the last step.
What is BeepWhenDone?
BeepWhenDone is a free online countdown timer that runs in your browser. Set a time, choose an alarm sound and press start. The alarm is scheduled the moment you start, so it sounds on time even from a background tab. There is no account and nothing to install, and after your first visit it keeps working without a connection.
Why another timer
It actually beeps. Most browser timers go quiet the moment you switch tabs, because they rely on a script that the browser slows down. This one schedules the alarm the second you press start, so the sound lands on time whether you are looking or not.
Type the time like a microwave. 1 0 0 0 for ten minutes, 4 5 for 45 seconds. No dropdowns, no plus buttons.
Big enough for a classroom. Full screen fills the display with the digits, readable from the back of a room, with a bar that shows how long is left without anyone having to read the numbers.
